Tariff Services
Every file starts in triage. This process will disclose what services you require; the order in which you require them; and what your next steps should be.
Whenever possible, we give our clients an estimate of what the completed work will cost as soon as such a determination can be made. Sometimes that is not possible until the work has already started.
These are sample prices for some of our services. If your needs are more complicated than most, these rates may not apply to you. Contact us for more specific explanation of how we would price your work.
Triage
$325
Every file starts in triage.
Ours is a general solicitor practice. And that makes us uniquely suited to assess your legal needs.
If we offer the services you require, this triage fee will be applied to the legal work you retain us to do for you.
If we do not provide the services you require, your obligation to us stops at the triage fee, and we will refer you to a colleague who provides the services you require.
Independent Legal Advice
3 hour minimum on
7 days advance notice
Every file starts in triage.
If you require legal advice on an agreement that we have not drafted, we charge a minimum of three billable hours for that service (see our hourly rates).
We require the completed documents at least seven days in advance of your appointment.

Business Structures
$1,800
Every file starts in triage. We don't treat business structures as a transactional file.
If triage determines that you need an incorporation package (complete with shareholder's agreement), this is our fee inclusive of triage.
Not all commercial decisions are driven by commerce and taxation. Sometimes there are family law and litigation avoidance reasons to choose a different path. If your particular needs are different, we will let you know upon after triage.
Personal Planning
$1,500 - 1,800
Every file starts in triage, including personal planning files.
You may only need a Will, but most clients also need other documents, like an Enduring Powers of Attorney, and Personal Directives.
Not all of your assets go through your Will. Those assets may be subject to familial or commercial obligations. Triage will disclose whether other agreements will also be necessary.
Once completed, your documents need to be reviewed at least every five years to be sure they still fit your needs. Happy planning!
Our Fee Structure
We offer our clients comprehensive legal services that meet their needs. That means we triage our clients' legal needs, and we price our services accordingly.
Our firm uses task-based billing. Each task is billed based on the skill required to complete that task. The following is an explanation of our pricing policy. Contact us for a more specific explanation of how we would price your work.
Junior Associate
$275 /hr
If the work can be done by a legal assistant, an articling student, under the supervision of a junior associate, those tasks are invoiced at the rate of a junior associate.
Senior Associate
$375 /hr
If the work cannot be done by a newly-called associate, but can be done by a senior associate, those tasks are invoiced at the rates of a senior associate.
Senior Lawyer
$475 /hr
Often the legal problem-solving cannot be done without the experience of a senior lawyer. And those tasks are invoiced at the rates of a senior lawyer.
Collaboration
Variable Rates
When your legal matter requires collaboration with third parties, including service providers and outside counsel, we may encourage you to retain the third parties directly, or we may bundle in those services with our own.
If these tasks are invoiced on our file, the rate will have been set by third parties.
